I work as a media designer in Potsdam and take pictures in my spare time. On this page is an overview of my series, which mainly deal with architecture and landscape. The galleries are available in the menu.
In addition to my own photography I am a team member in the Photo Gallery Potsdam . Each year, the gallery presents 5 varied photographers and photographers at the Treffpunkt Freizeit in Potsdam. An insight into the way I work is the interview with Alexander Gor . |
Andreas Levers is a German amateur photographer who has specialised in architectural photography. He photographs spaces devoid of humans, focusing on the textures and surfaces, the light, fog and mist. He creates incredible atmosphere in his images and has an eye for symmetry, leading lines and diagonals. I really love his fog images. The way he softens the hard industrial structures and roads by distorting them and diminishing them through the use of light in astonishing. I have attempted this technique in the following photo-shoot.
Attempting to use the fog to create a soft flare around my photos was difficult. Especially on my phones camera. I adjusted the shutter speed to as long as I could to create more lens flare and use the filter to lower the sensitivity of the sensor. Unfortunately I didn't have a DSLR at seven in the morning.

This shot utilises the combination of leading lines, curves and different coloured lights to create a dramatic image. The car and the banner on the left hand side are the most distracting elements of the shoot. The bin in the foreground is also distracting. This preparation shot will hopefully allow me to prepare for a future composition.
