The rule of thirds is probably the best known and most used composition rule in photography. The idea that the foreground, mid ground and background divide the page equally goes back to the birth of landscape painting.
PHI GRID
The Phi Grid and Golden Ratio are a way of generating interesting photographs with a strong dynamic quality to them. The sections in the Phi grid are arguably better than the rule of thirds grid as they add elements that are not too symmetrical or simplistic. Creating an image with tension, that flows between each object but doesn't feel arranged.
